Kat's materials for the French Market Bag.

Monday, June 28, 2004

From Suzette: This is my day one effort - the base is knitted and a few inches up the side. I am really loving knitting with this wool and the 10mm Addi's. The knitting action is so smooth and easy, plus An was right - knitting with these circulars is much easier on my forearms than straight needles - hooray!

From Judy: I will be knitting the FMB out of Lincraft Cosy Wool, double stranded, in dark lilac. Knitted double, haven't quite decided what needles to use for it yet. I'm being naughty and not swatching as I have recently knitted a felted hat in Cosy Wool and I'm very happy with how it felts, so I am regarding that as a swatch of sorts!

I may fiddle with the pattern as I knit and will probably embellish the bag when it is finished, though now sure yet with what or how.

Today is the day!

Let the Great Felted Creation Knitalong begin!!

From Kat: I am knitting the French Market Bag in Lincraft Cosy wool, double-stranded, in dark green for the main colour and light green for the base, etc.

I have knitted a swatch, which has come out at about the right gauge, but have yet to felt it.

Who's Doing What?

So far we have:

Jen crocheting the French Market Bag,
Diana knitting the FMB,
Suzette knitting the Lunch Bag Carryall,
Kat knitting the FMB,
Judy knitting the FMB with some embellishments,
Dianne knitting the FMB,
Kate knitting Sophie
Jacqueline knitting the Mary-Jane felted slippers.

All others who are joining in the knitalong, please let us know asap so we can post a full list of participants. Ta!

Diana's main colour from Marta's

Diana's contrast colour from Marta's

From Diana:I am going to do the french market bag, but have picked up a havier yarn than specified in the pattern- main colour is 14ply (I think) cherry red pure wool from Martas, and the contrast is a 12 ply yellow/orange/grey green pure wool also from Martas.
I've knit up a tension swatch (which I was planning to throw in with the washing tomorrow night to felt it) using 5mm needles- Addi turbos also from Martas, which has produced a fairly dense fabric that is slightly larger than the required tension- which I think should be fine.
